© Dolan Media Newswires 2009.MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Woodstock-based Juhl Wind Inc. this week announced it had signed a 20-year, 19.8-megawatt power purchase agreement between Danielson Wind Farms LLC and Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy Inc. The Danielson Wind Farms project is a community-owned and operated wind farm. Plans call for a $46 million development with 12 wind turbines.
Located in Meeker County, the project consists of a locally controlled, limited-liability corporation of southwest Minnesota residents and a to-be-determined tax equity partner. Juhl Wind Inc. has been assisting the local owners in the development of the project since the spring of 2008, and was picked by Xcel Energy after the utility issued a renewable-energy request for proposal. Juhl Wind will serve as developer and contractor on the Danielson Wind Farms, LLC project, which is expected to hook into the grid in late 2010.
“The progression of the Danielson Wind Farms LLC wind project is representative of the strong demand in the market for community wind farms,” said Dan Juhl, CEO of Juhl Wind. “Since going public with our increased awareness, we are receiving regular inquiries from groups of local owners like the good folks that make up the Danielson group. This is exactly what we hoped for when we went public at the end of June 2008.”
